How would you describe yourself?

I am result-oriented and therefore constantly check how close or how far I am from my goal and what it takes to achieve it. Results are my passion. That’s why I’m determined to do well at my job, have a successful career, and make the company I work for more competitive.

I love learning and trying new things, developing new methods, and bringing in new ideas. I will always take advantage of any opportunity to educate myself.

Despite being an introvert and valuing my alone time, relationships with people are also important to me. I can get very excited when I talk about something that inspires me.

How do you spend your spare time?

I’m learning or practicing other technical skills when I’m not working. That’s why I attend tech community events and volunteer on projects.

And when I’m not doing that, I’m playing computer games like Call of Duty and FIFA or watching comedy shows on TV. Since the pandemic, like so many others, I have discovered the joy of cooking for myself. I think I’ve evolved a lot compared to before.

What is important to you?

My mental health is very important to me. If you are not feeling well or your health is poor, then it is important that you at least stay mentally and emotionally fit. Because if you take care of yourself, do something good for yourself, or just unwind, it always has a positive effect on everything else. Nothing can knock you out easily when you have a strong spirit, and you can actually move mountains. I think we should all care a lot more about and value our mental health.

Can you tell a little story that best describes who you are?

I honestly have to admit that I wasn’t enthusiastic about WordPress from the start. That only came as I got more and more involved with it. At first, I was subject to the common prejudice that WordPress is only suitable for bloggers and that you cannot do as much with the software.

But since I often came into contact with WordPress, I found that the content management system can do so much more. This realization hit me like a blow; I knew I had found my favorite software from then on! Ever since, I’ve been all about WordPress. I am always trying my best to give back to the WordPress community because I have gained a lot from the community.

Femi’s way to Inpsyde

I studied Computer Science in Nigeria, got my diploma certificate in 2013, and moved to South Africa in 2014 because my family lives here.

While looking for a job as a web developer, I realized that a lot of these opportunities required knowledge of WordPress. I was hesitant at first but then decided to start a beginner WordPress course. In 2015, I got my first job as a WordPress web developer.

I fell in love with WordPress and decided to learn about it. After learning and understanding how WordPress works, I have also developed a few WordPress plugins and completed further degrees in Information Technology. I also took professional courses like the Google IT Support course and the Coursera Software Testing course.

I realized that Inpsyde would be an amazing place to work after reading about the company and going through its website, its values, and the work done by Inpsyde. I’ve also been enthusiastic about working remotely before, so I think it’s great that this form of work also exists at Inpsyde. Another plus!

I had been to a WordCamp Europe, seen many WordPress companies there, and gotten to know the community. It quickly became clear to me that I would really like to work for a WordPress company and was immediately on the lookout for a suitable job – like the one at Inpsyde. The whole process from application to signing the contract took only a short time. I was very happy about it!

The team is great, and the onboarding process was so informative that I can’t wait to work with my colleagues every day. I was involved in everything right from the start, and was able to ask questions at any time. I got a lot of material, and everything was explained to me.
