This is Maya Lawrence
Maya lives in Sarawak, Malaysia.
How would you describe yourself?
The five words that I feel best to describe me are resilient, ambitious, optimistic, determined, and humble. I was the first person in my family to go to college, and along with my family’s support, these characteristics really helped me get through school, and appreciate the opportunities I’ve been given. I feel that they will help me succeed in this job as well. Now I want to support my family as they have supported me since I was a child.
I am ambitious and driven. I thrive on challenges and constantly set goals for myself, so I have something to strive toward. I’m not comfortable with settling, and I’m always looking for an opportunity to do better and achieve greatness. In my previous role, I was promoted three times in less than two years.
And also I’m a people person. I love meeting new people and learning about their lives and their backgrounds. I can almost always find common ground with strangers, and I like making people feel comfortable in my presence.
How do you spend your spare time?
To be honest, I enjoy just lying on a couch, reading a good book, or watching a good movie. In my last employment, I did a lot of physical work and typically arrived home tired. I learned to listen to my body and when it demands rest, I will give it to it. On weekends, however, I like to do short trips or drive a car in the countryside, for example to the beautiful Marina Bay at Miri Sarawak.
Maya’s way to Inpsyde
I have worked as a customer service professional for 5 years and was promoted to Sales Manager after that. In this time I’ve developed extensive skills working with customers even when they were distressed. I’m excellent at de-escalating situations and finding ways to make the customer happy. Our customer satisfaction rating rose 10% during my tenure at my previous employer. I have learned how to self-assert myself to meet a client. At first, it was awkward but when I do it a couple of times, I am very happy because I like to see my client happy with my service. What I have learned is we must be very confident with ourselves and must be ready to learn everything.
Over the years, I have acquired relevant skills and experience, which I am happy to bring to Inpsyde. I have also worked tirelessly on my communication abilities and teamwork skills, which I will put to use in my future career. I have given my 100% effort in my past companies, and this has enabled me to recognize my capabilities and limitations.
I like my job because everyone shares the same vision and is dedicated to the mission. This truly creates a family environment where everybody is there for each other.
I love that I have a great degree of control and freedom within my job. I work full-time on a flexible schedule. I work hard to maintain that level of trust, which keeps me engaged and excited and my job enables me to love and enjoy my other passions in life.
I’m looking forward to learning a lot of things so that when my colleagues and clients need me, I can handle it professionally.
