This is Ilma Andrade.
She lives anywhere and everywhere, always traveling, but if not, you will find her near the beach in Florianopolis, Brazil.
How would you describe yourself?
I have a strong drive to learn and grow in a way that I constantly seek fresh challenges and opportunities. For me, life is about movement and growth, and everything keeps flowing as long as I can respect that law.
I’m passionate about exploring different cultures and always eager to see and discover new things about the world.
How do you spend your time?
I’m grateful to have a range of hobbies that enrich my life and bring me happiness.
Writing is a passion of mine, allowing me to express myself creatively and providing a therapeutic outlet. Hiking and traveling are some of my favorite hobbies, allowing me to discover new places, connect with nature, and stay active.
Spending time with loved ones is essential to me, whether gathering with friends for a game night or visiting family. Seeking out adventures is another hobby I enjoy, as I relish trying new things and pushing my boundaries.
Reading is also a beloved pastime that broadens my knowledge and transports me to different worlds. And, of course, taking time to unwind and recharge is crucial for my well-being, whether by curling up with a good book or indulging in a luxurious bubble bath.
What is important to you?
To enjoy! Life is short, and every moment should be enjoyed, no matter what it is. I believe the most important thing in life is having values and building goals around them. It is important to feel alive.
Part of feeling alive is having dreams, trying new things often, and discovering more about the world and yourself every day, including making mistakes and overcoming fears. Everything becomes enjoyable when you look at life as a big adventure.
Ilma’s way to Inpsyde
I started my career as a lawyer, but I just went to law school to make enough money and someday be able to be whatever I wanted. So after graduating, I traveled abroad to learn English. Two years later, I returned to Brazil and realized I didn’t want to pursue a long law career. That’s when I started working in the travel industry and then moved to Italy for a Master’s in Business administration.
Despite all I had learned, I was still looking for a career that would fit my lifestyle and not keep me from what I enjoy most. That’s when I returned to Brazil again and started a travel blog. It was a great experience. I started to learn things, apply them immediately, and test the results.
In the meantime, I learned a lot about blogging and digital marketing. From there, I learned about UX Design and decided to enter the tech field.
Later I discovered that I could bring together my passion for writing and travel with my passion for technology and UX, and that’s when I started blogging about art, career, and technology.
I joined Inpsyde to learn more skills in the tech field and expand my knowledge.
What do you especially like about your new job?
I love the flexibility, culture, geographic freedom, and growth potential that Inpsyde offers. I was happy to discover a friendly and healthy work environment here.
I like the idea of learning new skills while meeting amazing people from all over the world. I am also enjoying the opportunity of applying and improving my UX skills.
Questions to Inpsyder Ilma
We asked Ilma a few personal questions to learn more about her:
What was the last book you read?
Honestly, I never only read one book at a time, so here are the last three: ‘Thinking, Fast, and Slow’ by Daniel Kahneman, ‘Steal Like An Artist’ by Austin Kleon, and ‘Gatilhos Mentais’ by Gustavo Ferreira. Currently, I am reading ‘Neuromarketing’ by Darren Bridger and a few others.
Reading a book is like hanging out with a wise friend. That way, I get to meet with different authors throughout the week.
What was the best advice you ever got? Who gave it to you?
I have no idea who gave it to me. I probably read it somewhere. In Portuguese: ”caminha que o caminho se abre,” which translates to ”Walk, and the path will open.” It means that once you have a goal, you just need to take the first step without worrying about how you will get to the end because, after that first step, you will start to see your way.
What do you like most about your city?
I love Florianopolis because you are always around nature, mountains, beaches, surf life, and amazing people. I found magic there, and although I am always traveling, Florianopolis will always be where I return.
What is your favorite smartphone app?
Medium is my favorite app. I am not a ‘small talk’ person, I like to go deep and learn new perspectives, so Medium is a great place to find smart minds. Also, the overall user experience on the application is great. It doesn’t have advertisements and provides an intuitive and minimalist design.
What is the best meal you can cook on your own?
I can cook anything. My friends normally say that I cook better than fancy restaurant chefs. I guess it is because my parents always allowed my siblings and me to be creative in the kitchen when we were kids.
I had to cook, but I could do it freely. So, I would vote for my pasta with avocado sauce. It will blow your mind.
You get stuck in the elevator for many hours, and there’s a song playing in a continuous loop. What song would that be?
In that case, I would prefer silence. I normally pick the music according to my mood and how I want to settle myself, so that’s a hard one. If that happened now, I would pick: “I Got You,” by James Brown.
