How would you describe yourself?

I am a very dynamic and open type. That’s why I like to be outside and with friends. Getting to know new things and gaining new impressions are essential for me. I think my friends would say the same about me. As soon as there is something to experience, I’ll be a part of it! But even if there is a problem and you need a shoulder to lean on, I am there. I am a very reliable and approachable person.

How do you spend your spare time?

I prefer to go swimming. The Atlantic Ocean is right in front of my city, so I used to swim there a lot. I now prefer going to one of our numerous swimming pools. Swimming is not only a sport for me but also a way of life. You really work yourself out and clear your head, apart from the fact that it keeps the body fit. This is perhaps also reflected in my character – swimming teaches you persistence and perseverance, even when things get tough.

Besides swimming, I am interested in new technologies. I am open to everything new and never want to stop learning in this area. I’m sure there will be some great developments in the future!

What is important to you?

It is important to me to keep fit and do everything possible for my health. Only those who are 100% healthy feel up to anything. This is another reason why I practice swimming extensively. It’s a sport that influences everything positively.

In addition to health, I also strive to develop myself constantly. The worst for me would be standing still. I always have to keep moving, both physically and mentally; otherwise, I quickly get bored, and I also get grumpy. Who would like to be like that?!

Can you tell a little story that best describes who you are?

When we were children, my brothers, cousins, and I often went to the farm with my father. When we found a scorpion in our farming activities that was too dangerous for us, my father would sharpen a stick and kill the scorpion, usually by pinning it from the top.

One day a scorpion surprised me after removing leaves from a yam mound. I decided to do it the same way my father did. So I tried to keep it at a distance with a sharpened stick. But when I pushed the scorpion down with it, the stick broke, my hand slipped and landed on the scorpion. Of course, I got stung.

Although it didn’t go well at first glance, it had a big impact on me, and I learned one thing in the process: I will always try to do something differently or better to reach my goal. There are always challenges in life, but giving up is not an option!

Eliasu’s way to Inpsyde

One day, after graduating from university with a degree in economics, it occurred to me that a lot of things in the future will depend on computers. One idea that particularly came to my mind was an e-commerce site where I could sell products.

I didn’t have the means to study computer science. So I decided to join a three-week course and learned how to build websites. We all thought that static HTML and CSS mainly used table elements. At the time, I wanted to do better and create websites like the Yahoo site back then, even if it wasn’t a commercial website. I also liked the concept of server-side language because I realized that it was the tool I needed to create a working e-commerce website. So I decided to go online to learn JavaScript, PHP, and other HTML tags. It wasn’t easy going my way, but the determination was there. From W3School to all kinds of PDF file books, I learned how to get what I wanted.

Meanwhile, I met some friends who had taken an IT course in programming and were very interested in technology. One of them was a blogger, and that’s how I got to know WordPress. I learned how to set up and use the content management system from him. Henceforth, I learned to change to WordPress themes and later WordPress plugins. WordPress was truly amazing. I couldn’t believe the dream had just come true. At the time, there was no WooCommerce plugin, or if there was, I hadn’t heard much about it. So I realized that I still had a lot to learn to create such a plugin.

In 2014 I got my first job as a Technical Supporter  after I just wanted to see if anyone thought I was good enough. I kept the job while I was studying.

The more I learned, the more I realized how much I could achieve with it. In addition, I realized that the results of my work must always comply with industry standards. Since then, it has motivated me to learn professional skills at the highest level – not only about WordPress but also about full stack in the JavaScript ecosystem.

When I saw an Inpsyde job advertisement and researched the company, I quickly realized that Inpsyde was just the right thing. Because here I find many experienced developers and high-quality projects to improve a lot. I think there are still many exciting projects waiting for me!
